The Panama Jazz Festival and International Film Festival in Panama (IFF Panama) create a new alliance to launch the first educational program of Film Scoring (Music for films) that will be taught by the acclaimed musician and film music expert Claudio Ragazzi, professor of the Film Scoring Department of Berklee College of Music, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world.
 
The aim of the alliance of both festivals is to grant scholarships to five teams of musicians and filmmakers to attend the program that will be held in Panama City in two stages from January 14 to 19 at the 16th Panama Jazz Festival, and from the 4th to April 10, in the framework of the 8th edition of IFF Panama.
 
During this program, participants will learn the process of creating film music in parallel to film development, thus experiencing the different processes of production and creation needed to compose a film score, understand the import of music with respect to the film and the At the end of the program, the team will be able to play a short film.
 
The workshop is aimed at musicians, composers, directors and film producers, screenwriters, and music or film professionals, interested in soundtracks and the use of music in the audiovisual industry, who have a project (short film) of 5 to 10 minutes in intermediate or final stage of production to musicalize it during the program.

Patricia Zarate Pérez, Executive Director of the Panama Jazz Festival commented that "Music applied to the image requires knowledge of specific techniques, cultural references, diversity of styles, as well as appropriate strategies for each scene. Monday, January 14 from 01:00 pm to 04:00 pm
Tuesday 15, Tuesday 16 and Thursday 17 January from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm
Friday, January 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Friday, January 18 from 12: 00MD to 1:00 pm Final presentation open to the public.

All classes will be held in the City of Knowledge at the times already mentioned.
The winners of the scholarships must be the same registered in the form and must attend every workshop day. Substitutes are not allowed for classes during the program nor can they be absent from any class. Couples of Director and Composer who do not meet the requirements will be disqualified from the program.
